Lani Love for Starz Party Down S3 Premiere Afterparty
It’s been over ten years since the season two finale of the hit Starz series Party Down aired, and there’s no better way to celebrate a hugely anticipated revival than with a grand premiere afterparty DJd by one of Prism’s most paramount Los Angeles DJs, DJ Lani Love.
Co-written by Paul Rudd and starring some of Hollywood’s most loved actors, from Jane Lynch to Adam Scott to Jennifer Coolidge, Party Down follows a group of struggling actors working as LA caterers. The series first entered the Starz lineup in 2009 and, though wildly popular, was canceled after its second season in 2010. For the next decade, fans clamored for a reboot of the hilariously honest and spirited comedy. Finally, in November 2021, Starz announced that a third season was on the way, premiering on February 24, 2023.
Organized by Westhaus, the Starz Party Down Season Three Premiere Afterparty took place on February 22 at the stately Palazzo di Amore estate in Beverly Hills. Attendees, including the show’s cast and crew, as well as esteemed guests like food editor Alyse Whitney, arrived after a screening at the Regency Bruin Theatre and were led to the residence’s extravagant back patio and pool area. There they were treated to a stunning visual display of vibrant pink lighting and quirky integrations of the show’s most popular thematic elements, such as the gang’s catering van.
No one was better suited to bring the energy to such a dynamic and lively crew than DJ Lani Love. She kicked off the night with groovy Disco and R&B mixes, then slid into her deep collection of Funk and Hip Hop tunes sprinkled with a few girly pop tracks, and she closed out the night with classic bangers and sing-a-long anthems. Her upbeat mix of party jams kept the guests vibing and dancing all night long — including and especially Ryan Hansen from the cast, who was moonwalking and jamming out to some House and Baile Funk remixes.
It’s no surprise that the entire party had the time of their lives. DJ Lani Love knows exactly how to hype a crowd, and curated selections like the Whitney Houston “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” x Rihanna & Calvin Harris “We Found Love” mashup, “Players” by Coi Leray, and “Still Not a Player” by Big Pun featuring Joe kept everyone on the dance floor. In fact, a whole group of guests ‘camped out’ in front of the booth, jiving all evening. In addition to her planned setlist, DJ Lani Love also catered to the crowd, taking requests — one of which was from a member of the Starz PR team for new Taylor Swift.
The Party Down Season 3 Premier Afterparty was a raging success thanks to DJ Lani Love. You know it’s been a good night when the cast is the last to leave the dancefloor!
