Hauskaat for Starz Blindspotting S2 Premiere Afterparty
Since its debut in 2021, the Starz original Blindspotting has skyrocketed in popularity. To kick off the highly anticipated second season, the cast, crew, and special guests were treated to a glamorous red carpet event and rousing afterparty on April 11, 2023. DJ Hauskaat took the stage as the premiere event DJ, repping Prism DJs and bringing the house down with the hottest tracks. Needless to say, the Starz Blindspotting Season 2 Premiere Afterparty was one of the spiciest events of the season.
Blindspotting follows the story of Ashley, her son’s father and longtime partner Miles, their son Sean, and their life in Oakland. Ashley’s world is turned upside down when Miles is incarcerated, forcing her to navigate single motherhood. The show holds a 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and won the prestigious Audience Award for TV Spotlight at this year’s SXSW Film and TV Festival. So you know this event had to pull out all the stops.
The whole night was a total vibe, from the first step on the red carpet to the last dance. The festivities were held at NeueHouse Hollywood, and the guest list included the show’s cast and crew as well as some of the hottest names, like G-Eazy, Coco Jones, and P-Lo. And the height of the evening was DJd by none other than leading Los Angeles DJ, DJ Hauskaat.
One of DJ Hauskaat’s many strengths is creating a musical selection that reflects the event, the guests, and what’s being celebrated. To commemorate the Blindspotting Season 2 release and its Oakland roots, Hauskaat curated a mix of Bay Area Hip Hop, West Coast Hip Hop, and a sprinkle of Latin. Some crowd favorites from the setlist were “Blow the Whistle” and “Shake That Monkey” by Too Short, “Vans” by The Pack, and pretty much all the tracks by Federation and E-40. “Put Me On Something” by P-Lo was also a hit, and the moment was even more incredible because P-Lo was actually at the party.
Hauskaat’s set lit the dance floor on fire. Guests were having a great time and leaving it all out there. There were special requests for Rihanna and Bad Bunny, and Hauskaat even threw in some reggaeton and Dembow (a Dominican genre with Jamaican dancehall roots) for good measure. But the DJ highlight of the night by far was when Hauskaat played G-Eazy’s “West Coast,” and he came right up to the DJ booth, shook her hand, and thanked her for playing his song.
So many memorable moments came out of this night! Prism DJs is grateful to Starz and Westhaus Group for the chance to be a part of it.
You can stream Blindspotting on Starz, and new episodes air Fridays at 9 pm.
